Accountant / Tax Practitioner

A well-established accounting and tax practice in South Africa is looking to appoint an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant / Tax Practitioner to join its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who enjoys working in a client-focused environment and has strong technical accounting, payroll, and tax experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full payroll function (weekly and monthly payrolls).
- Prepare and submit all payroll-related SARS returns, including EMP201, EMP501, and U-Filing submissions.
- Perform full-function bookkeeping from source documents through to trial balance.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Draft financial statements.
- Liaise professionally with clients and provide ongoing accounting and tax support.
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and high-quality work across all client portfolios.
- Previous experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, audit, or tax practice.
- Strong knowledge of payroll administration and SARS compliance.
- Experience preparing financial statements.
- Proficiency in Xero, Sage, Draftworx, and CaseWare.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proactive approach with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professional, client-focused attitude with high standards of work.
