About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Client’s frozen food distribution business across Ireland. This role is critical in ensuring smooth warehouse operations, order fulfilment, stock control, and team management. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will play a key role in optimising processes, reducing lost stock, and driving efficiency as the business continues to expand.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a frozen foods sector. Experience of being a checker/supervisor in a similar frozen foods distribution would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Team & Warehouse Management
- Lead, manage, and oversee warehouse staff, drivers, and pickers, ensuring all teams operate efficiently.
- Coordinate night staff for order picking and day staff for loading and stock replenishment.
- Supervise 5-6 van drivers at any one time, ensuring daily deliveries are accurate and timely, including a nightly loading for cross docking in NI.
- Ensure strong, streamlined communication between sales, office administrators, accounts, telesales, and warehouse teams to prevent stock shortages.
- Oversee daily stock checks, intake, dispatch, and van returns, ensuring accurate inventory management.
- Improve stock control processes.
- Ensure chilled stock take is performed daily, reducing lost stock and inefficiencies.
- Manage order processing, with picking sheets emailed by 6pm for night staff to fulfill.
- Ensure all vans are loaded correctly starting 6am daily Monday to Friday.
- Ensure nightly load for cross docking is accurately picked and dispatched on time.
- Support transport routing and fleet management, optimising delivery efficiency.
- Implement and maintain timely and quality control measures for all outgoing orders.
- Ensure health and safety compliance in a cold storage environment.
- Streamline van return processes, ensuring all deliveries are completed correctly.
- Proven experience in cold storage operations, logistics, and warehouse management, within the frozen food distribution/storage sector.
- Strong leadership skills, with a can-do, hands on proactive attitude. Previous experience as a checker in a frozen food sector (an advantage).
- Excellent stock control knowledge, with experience in reducing waste, managing supply and demand, and improving inventory accuracy.
- Understanding of transport routing, team fleet management, and delivery coordination.
- Experience with Intact IQ would be highly beneficial but is not essential, as training will be provided.
- Experience driving a fork lift advantageous with license.
